Austria Lakes & Bavarian Alps Photo Tour

A 7-Day Journey Through Alpine Dreams

Workshop starts: October 23rd , 2025, Hotel at Munich Airport

Workshop ends: October 29th, 2025, Hotel at Munich Airport

Difficulty: Moderate with some uphill hikes and longer walks, but nothing too strenuous.

Join us on an unforgettable 7-day photography adventure through the enchanting landscapes of southern Germany and northern Austria — where snow-capped peaks, fairytale castles, alpine lakes, and hidden gorges create a dreamscape for every landscape photographer.

Beginning in Munich, our route leads through the iconic Bavarian Alps, with golden light sessions at Geroldsee, nestled beneath the Karwendel range, and serene morning reflections at Hirtensee and Upfensee, near the storybook town of Berchtesgaden, Füssen and the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we descend into the dramatic Partnachklamm Gorge, where narrow rock walls and turquoise waters offer extraordinary long-exposure opportunities. From there, we journey to Berchtesgaden National Park, home to the emerald-green Königssee, where steep alpine cliffs rise straight from the lake.

Crossing into Austria, we enter the photogenic Salzkammergut region. We’ll capture iconic scenes in Hallstatt, reflected in still morning waters, and continue to lesser-known gems like Gosausee, Wolfgangsee, and Fuschlsee. One of our highlights includes the Golling Mill (Gollinger Mühle) — a classic Austrian photo location featuring a rustic watermill surrounded by mossy rocks and flowing streams, perfect for silky waterfall compositions.

Led by an experienced landscape photographer, this tour is designed for photographers of all levels who seek both growth and awe-inspiring scenery. You’ll receive personal coaching, compositional guidance, and editing insights throughout the journey.

Photo Tour Highlights:

– Sunrise and sunset shoots at alpine lakes like Hallstatt, Geroldsee, Upfensee, and Gosausee
– Dramatic nature photography at Partnach Gorge and Golling Watermill
– Iconic views of Neuschwanstein Castle, Königssee, and traditional alpine villages
– Stay in hand-picked hotels in scenic and authentic locations
– Learn long exposure techniques, composition mastery, and editing tips on the go

Whether you’re seeking the perfect reflection, the rush of a mountain stream, or the timeless beauty of alpine architecture, this journey will elevate your photography and immerse you in some of Europe’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

Moderate with some uphill hikes and longer walks so good footwear needed. Otherwise most locations and viewpoints are close to where we will be parked. There may be some walking on uneven terrain which could be wet and muddy, and some locations are hilly. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.

Best place to fly to is Munich Airport.

Airport shuttle to Flightgate Munich Airport Hotel

The weather can be quite cold this time of year, and the mornings and evenings colder, so bring warm clothes. Ideally layers that you can remove or put on as we’ll be shooting before sunrise and after sunset, in the dark, when it will be colder. Bring wet weather gear and a raincover for your camera equipment.
