There are landscapes that live in our imagination long before we ever press the shutter. Tuscany and the Val d’Orcia represent the absolute pinnacle of landscape and fine-art photography—a region of rolling clay hills, geometric cypress alignments, and ancient stone architecture bathed in a light so soft it feels painted by the Renaissance masters.

Meeting Point — Rome International Airport (Fiumicino)
Our journey begins and ends at the gateway of the eternal city: Rome International Airport. Here, our private group gathers, loading our equipment into a spacious, premium vehicle designed for maximum comfort throughout our journey. From Rome, we travel north into the heart of the Tuscan countryside, arriving at our dedicated base hotel in the historic town of San Quirico d’Orcia—a strategic sanctuary perfectly positioned to access the valley’s finest light.
Day 1 — Welcome & Itinerary Presentation
Upon checking into our hotel in San Quirico, we gather for a detailed presentation of the full itinerary. This opening session is an essential part of the experience—a moment to connect with fellow photographers, discuss technical settings, filter choices, and align our creative vision for the days ahead. We prepare mentally and artistically to capture the landscape not just as it looks, but as it feels when the world is completely still.
The Locations — A Visual Masterclass in Val d’Orcia and Beyond
Podere Belvedere — The Morning Mist of Dreams
We begin our first full day right outside our hotel doors at dawn. Podere Belvedere is perhaps the most poetically evocative farmhouse in the entire world. Standing on the ridge as the pre-dawn cold settles, you will witness the mystical Tuscan fog rolling through the valley, leaving only the tops of cypresses and stone villas floating above a sea of white. It is an extraordinary, dream-like spectacle that demands long-exposure precision and a deep respect for composition.
Chapel of Vitaleta — Exquisite Minimalist Geometry
Perched solitary amidst a sea of rolling green fields, the Cappella da Madonna di Vitaleta is a masterpiece of sacred, minimal architecture. Framed perfectly by a small cluster of cypresses, its clean lines and isolated stance make it the ultimate study in what we define as Structural Quietude. Venture south and the landscape shifts dramatically as we approach Pitigliano. Perched impossibly atop a sheer volcanic tufa cliff, this breathtaking medieval town looks as if it was sculpted straight out of the mountain itself. Known as the Italian Jerusalem due to its historic Jewish community, its labyrinth of stone alleyways, dramatic vertical drops, and ancient towers offer an enriching dimension of architectural and historical street photography where time has truly stood still.
Pienza and Siena — Renaissance Masterpieces
No photographic exploration of Tuscany is complete without honoring its cultural hearts. Pienza, designed as the “ideal Renaissance city,” offers elevated terraces looking out over the entire Val d’Orcia. Meanwhile, Siena transports us deep into medieval grandeur, with its dramatic cathedral lines and rich, warm-toned brickwork that catches the fading golden light beautifully.
Hidden Gems & Fine Dining

The Grand Finale — Return to Rome
On our final day, after a last sunrise session capturing the parting light of the valley and a relaxed group breakfast, we journey south, returning directly to Rome International Airport. You will board your flight home with a transformed creative perspective, a refined portfolio, and memory cards filled with the timeless spirit of Italy.

Relatively easy but good footwear needed. Most locations and viewpoints are close to where we will be parked. There may be some walking on uneven terrain which could be wet and muddy, and some locations are hilly. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.
Best place to fly to is Rome Airport. Alternatively, you can fly to other major towns such as Florence, Pisa or even Venice If coming from the UK or within Europe, you can find flights at Easyjet or Wizz Air or Ryanair.
