This five-day private tour combines hands-on shooting at iconic locations and secret corners with immersive, one-to-one instruction in composition, timing, and long exposure techniques, designed specifically for Venice's unique challenges and opportunities. You'll capture both celebrated landmarks and hidden campi during the city's most photogenic moments — from pre-dawn mist rolling off the Grand Canal to the warm glow of sunset illuminating Gothic facades.

5 Days / 4 Nights
Venice is a city unlike any other — a place where light, water and architecture come together to create an atmosphere that feels almost dreamlike. Over five carefully planned days, we will explore its most iconic viewpoints and quieter corners, learning how to capture the elegance, mystery and timeless character of La Serenissima.
This masterclass combines landscape, architecture and street photography with practical tuition in the field, daily image reviews and dedicated post-production sessions.
Day 1 — Arrival in Venice
Our meeting point will be Venice Marco Polo Airport, from where we will travel to the Hotel Casanova, our base for the masterclass. Ideally located just a few steps from St Mark’s Square, the hotel places us within easy reach of many of Venice’s most beautiful photographic locations.
After checking in, I will introduce the programme, discuss our photographic approach and help everyone prepare their equipment for the days ahead.
In the evening, we will enjoy a welcome dinner together in a traditional Venetian restaurant — the perfect opportunity to get to know one another and begin our journey through this extraordinary city.
Day 2 — Sunrise at St Mark’s Square
Our first sunrise will take place at St Mark’s Square, when Venice is still quiet and the soft morning light begins to illuminate the lagoon.
We will photograph the famous gondolas with the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute in the distance, creating one of Venice’s most recognisable and atmospheric compositions.
During this session, I will explain how I use graduated filters to balance the exposure between the sky and the foreground. I will also demonstrate a simple and effective approach to achieving the best possible result directly in camera.
Later, we will explore the extraordinary architecture surrounding St Mark’s Square, including St Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, the Campanile and the Bridge of Sighs.
Day 3 — Sunrise from the Accademia Bridge
We will begin the day before dawn at the Accademia Bridge, one of the most beautiful viewpoints over the Grand Canal.
As the first light appears above the rooftops, we will photograph the elegant curve of the canal leading towards the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute. The boats, historic façades and reflections on the water create one of the most poetic scenes in Venice.
This location is ideal for working with graduated filters and neutral-density filters, allowing us to balance the brightness of the sky and experiment with longer exposures as the city slowly comes to life.
After breakfast, we will continue exploring the Grand Canal and its surrounding streets, photographing historic palaces, gondolas and everyday Venetian life.
We will also visit the Rialto Bridge, discovering both the famous elevated view over the canal and alternative compositions from the water’s edge. Our aim will be to move beyond the obvious postcard view and create images that feel more personal and considered.
Day 4 — Burano and Hidden Venice
We will leave central Venice behind and travel to Burano, an island known for its brightly coloured houses, peaceful canals and authentic local character.
Here, we will work with colour, geometry and visual storytelling. The narrow streets and details of daily life provide excellent opportunities for both architectural and street photography.
Back in Venice, we will explore quieter streets, small bridges and hidden corners away from the busiest routes. We will also have the opportunity to visit the unique Libreria Acqua Alta, an extraordinary bookshop where books are stored inside gondolas, boats and bathtubs to protect them from the rising water.
Our final evening session will be planned according to the light and weather conditions, allowing us to revisit a favourite location or discover a more intimate side of Venice.
Street Photography and the Stories of Venice
Throughout the masterclass, we will dedicate time to street photography and visual storytelling.
Venice is not only its famous monuments. Its true character can often be found in the smaller moments: a gondolier preparing his boat, morning deliveries along a narrow canal, reflections in an old window, local residents crossing a quiet bridge or the textures of centuries-old façades.
A short telephoto lens, such as a 70–200mm, is strongly recommended for these sessions. It will allow us to isolate details, work discreetly and create layered images that reveal the atmosphere and everyday stories of Venice.
A wide-angle lens is also essential for photographing the city’s architecture, interiors, canals and expansive views.
Day 5 — Final Session and Departure
Depending on departure times, we will enjoy one final early-morning photography session before returning to the hotel for breakfast and check-out.
We will conclude the masterclass by reviewing the experience, discussing the images created and identifying the strongest directions for each participant’s portfolio.
Daily Image Reviews and Editing
Throughout the masterclass, we will dedicate time each day to reviewing the photographs created during the previous sessions.
These relaxed but constructive conversations will help participants refine their compositions, understand the light and make stronger creative and technical decisions while the experience is still unfolding.
I will also share my post-production approach using Lightroom, Photoshop and Capture One. During a dedicated editing session, I will demonstrate how I process a RAW file in Capture One from beginning to end — from the initial adjustments to colour, contrast and atmosphere through to the final finishing touches.

Kase Filters Experience
As a Kase Filters Ambassador, I will have a Kase filter kit available for participants to experience during selected field sessions.
This will provide an opportunity to work with high-quality graduated and neutral-density filters, understand how different strengths affect an image and discover how filters can be used creatively and effectively in changing light.
Whether you are already familiar with filters or using them for the first time, I will guide you through the process and help you choose the most suitable combination for each scene.

Relatively easy but with lots of walking around the streets, so good footwear needed.
Best place to fly to is Venice Marco Polo Airport, but you can also fly to Venice Treviso.
To reach the hotel with public services you can choose between these two possibilities:
Sightseeing Route: about 40 minutes ride with “Vaporetto” Line 2 direction San Marco, suggested stop San Marco Giardinetti (easy path without bridges) or Line 1 direction San Marco, stop in San Marco Vallaresso. Cross the whole square in the direction of the Basilica, on you left side you will find the Clock Tower, go through the Tower and take the first street on your right called “Calle Larga San Marco”. The Hotel is at the end of the street on the left side in “Calle dell’Anzolo”.
Shortest Path: about 15 minutes ride with “Vaporetto” Line 1 or 2 direction Rialto. From Rialto boat stop to the hotel it’s about 10-minutes walk. Take “Mercerie” street till the end and turn left into “Calle Larga San Marco”. The hotel is at the end of the street on the left side in “Calle dell’Anzolo”.
