Austria Lakes & Bavarian Alps Photo Tour

The Bavarian Highlights & Alpine Chiaroscuro
We begin our journey departing from Munich into the heart of the Bavarian Alps. We will capture the golden hour light hitting Geroldsee, beautifully framed beneath the rugged Karwendel range. Our mornings will be dedicated to chasing pristine, mirror-like reflections at Hirtensee and Upfensee, situated near the historic alpine towns of Berchtesgaden and Füssen. We will also compose refined, minimalist architectural studies of the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle as it emerges from the autumn mountain mists.

Gorges, National Parks & Running Water
In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we descend into the dramatic Partnachklamm Gorge. Here, narrow vertical rock walls and fast-moving turquoise waters offer us extraordinary abstract and fine art long-exposure opportunities. Moving into the Berchtesgaden National Park, we will focus our lenses on the deep emerald waters of Königssee, where monumental alpine cliffs plunge straight into the silent lake.

The Austrian Lakes & Salzkammergut Mastery
Crossing into Austria, we enter the timeless Salzkammergut lakes region. We will capture Hallstatt during the quiet morning hours, utilizing the stillness of the water for perfect fine art symmetry. Our exploration continues through lesser-known alpine gems including Gosausee, Wolfgangsee, and Fuschlsee. A creative highlight of our Austrian passage is the classic Golling Mill (Gollinger Mühle) — an intimate waterfall setting where a rustic wooden mill is surrounded by moss-covered rocks and cascading streams, offering an ideal canvas for silky water motion and intricate details.

Photo Tour Highlights:

- Sunrise and sunset shoots at alpine lakes like Hallstatt, Geroldsee, Upfensee, and Gosausee

There may be some walking on uneven terrain which could be wet and muddy, and some locations are hilly. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.

Best place to fly to is Munich Airport.

Airport shuttle to Flightgate Munich Airport Hotel

The weather can be quite cold this time of year, and the mornings and evenings colder, so bring warm clothes. Ideally layers that you can remove or put on as we’ll be shooting before sunrise and after sunset, in the dark, when it will be colder. Bring wet weather gear and a raincover for your camera equipment.
